MIAMI – Thousands of Comcast customers are experiencing a massive phone service outage.
A service map shows that the outages appear to be centered in South Florida, the Northeast and Pacific Northwest.
Many are taking to Twitter to comment and complain about the outages that have disrupted business.
The outage began at approximately 2:30 p.m. EST.
Comcast acknowledged issues with their network in a statement.
“Early today an issue in our network prevented some of our small business customers from making and receiving phone calls. We’re working as quickly as possible to understand the root cause and get it resolved,”
One Chicago business told Local 10 that their calls to Comcast were met with a recording saying the number they had dialed was a non-working number.
According to some businesses, Comcast is claiming that it is a national outage and they are working to fix the problem.
