Residential Alarm Systems FAQ's:
We work with government agencies, corporations and individuals around
the world, creating safer living and working environments. Here
are some common questions about securing residences and offices
overseas.
Q: I am ordering alarm equipment for use
overseas: What do I have to know?
A: You should considering the following issues:
• Local Power: All AES products are 110/220V, 50/60 Hz compatible,
and include ruggedized power supplies. AES systems are supplied
with a US type plug; an adapter may be required.
• Local Power Conditions:
• Installation: Who will install your alarm system? You will
want to order a system that matches the skills of the local talent.
The AES 5100 is widely used in the U.S.,
and is considered "average" in terms of complexity for
installers. In developing countries, it may be difficult to find
an installer. For these regions, consider
the AES 1700 and 1710 series alarms, which have fewer options,
but are much easier to install. Both systems provide EXCELLENT security,
and are proven in thousands of installations worldwide.
• Who will maintain your alarm system? Your alarm system should
be checked every 6 months - every sensor, every battery, every accessory.
If possible, write a contract that says the installer is responsible
for maintenance and repairs for a period of years.
• Will your alarm system(s) be "local" (siren sounds
only on premises) or centrally monitored? Who will do the monitoring?
AES provides systems that can be monitored by a central station.
The equipment can interface with existing monitoring companies,
or we can provide a the monitoring system to create your own closed
network.
Q: I need alarms that can be monitored
by a central guard post or alarm company. Can AES systems be monitored?
A: The AES 5100 system has a built-in telephone
dialer that reports alarm data to a special data receiver. Most
alarm monitoring companies have compatible receivers. If you are
doing your own monitoring, AES offers alarm monitoring systems for
either radio and telephone monitoring. See the section on AES-IntelliNet,
or contact us for more information.
